But here's the thing most people only figure out after overpaying: a well-checked used phone does 95% of what a sealed one does, at 40–60% of the price. The catch is the word well-checked — and that's exactly what this guide is about.

Below is what things actually cost in 2026, how we grade our stock, and the checklist you should run on any used phone — even if you don't buy it from us.

Battery health: the number that matters most

On a used phone, the battery is the part that ages. That's why every used iPhone we sell is tested and listed with its battery health percentage — you'll see it right in the product name, like “BH 100%”. We log each unit's battery health against its IMEI when it comes in, so the number on the listing is the number of the exact phone you're buying, not a generic claim.

What the numbers mean in practice:

• 90–100% — effectively like new. Full-day battery life.
• 80–89% — perfectly usable; heavy users may charge twice a day.
• Below 80% — budget for a battery replacement, or negotiate the price down accordingly.

The 6 checks before buying any used phone

Run this list whether you buy from us, a friend, or a classifieds ad:

• Battery health — on iPhone: Settings → Battery → Battery Health. On Samsung: dial *#0228# or check with the Samsung Members app.
• Screen and body — look for cracks, deep scratches and screen burn-in; test True Tone and brightness at maximum.
• Face ID / fingerprint — set it up on the spot. If the seller says “it just needs a software fix”, walk away.
• Activation lock removed — the phone must be signed out of iCloud (iPhone) or the Google/Samsung account. A locked phone is a paperweight.
• IMEI status — dial *#06# and check the IMEI isn't blacklisted or reported stolen.
• Warranty and returns — a private seller offers neither. A shop should offer both, in writing.
